The Pecking Order

1. Scene 1 of 5Four animals show off beside signs about their work: a peacock with a 94-slide deck, a sloth with a late report, a parrot repeating the brief and an ostrich with its head in the sand next to a falling chart. Down here, everyone has an agency.
2. Scene 2 of 5The green sparrow flies over and drops a neat white splat on every sign. A toilet bursts out of the ground under each animal: the ostrich already sits in its bowl with its head still in the sand, the parrot hangs in the air where its perch was, the sloth drops into its bowl still asleep, and the peacock gapes at the splat on its sign as its fan snaps shut. We prefer to work a little higher up.
3. Scene 3 of 5The amber client birds hover in formation, their own small splats on every sign. The sparrow hangs from the chain of the cistern and the toilets flush one after another: the peacock circles its bowl with loose feathers around it, the parrot spins saying “flush”, the ostrich tips over tail first with its legs in the air and the sloth is still wedged in, yawning. Our clients have opinions too.
4. Scene 4 of 5The sparrow climbs through a band of clouds with the client birds tucked in behind it in a V. The ground is far below. Small birds. Fast.
5. Scene 5 of 5Above the clouds the sparrow looks back at you. At the end of the formation flies a new amber bird tagged “Your brand”. De mus zegt: “Your turn. Tuck in behind me.”

Flush.
